The Dawn of Solar Excellence: GREW's 3.2 GW Solar Manufacturing Plant in Kathua

On the momentous day of Akshaya Tritiya, a day of boundless opportunities, GREW proudly conducted the groundbreaking ceremony of its cutting-edge 3.2 GW solar manufacturing plant in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir (J&K). This significant step not only reinforces GREW's commitment to renewable energy but also marks the beginning of a new chapter in India's journey towards energy independence and sustainability.

GREW's Legacy and Vision

GREW, a cornerstone of the Chiripal Group's portfolio, embodies a commitment to pioneering innovation and excellence within the solar industry. With a rich heritage spanning over half a century, the Chiripal Group has consistently led the way across multiple sectors, notably excelling in textiles. Now, GREW is leveraging this legacy to become a dominant player among the top solar companies in India, focusing on creating high-efficiency solar PV modules.

A New Horizon for Solar Manufacturing

The inauguration of the 3.2 GW solar manufacturing plant in J&K underscores GREW's commitment to scaling up production capabilities and advancing India's renewable energy sector. Sprawling over 80 acres, this facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology designed to produce high-efficiency solar modules and components, including 2.8 GW of ingots, wafers, and cells.

This ultra-modern module manufacturing facility in the Bagthali industrial zone is part of a larger investment plan by GREW Energy Private Limited, amounting to Rs 4500 crore in J&K. This significant investment underscores the central government's commitment to transforming the Union Territory into a hub of infrastructure and development.

Economic and Employment Boost

The establishment of this 3.2 GW solar manufacturing plant in J&K is not just an expansion of GREW's production capabilities, it aims to propel economic growth and employment in the zone. The Kathua facility is projected to generate around 3000 high-tech positions, offering vital employment prospects for the local youth in the region. This initiative aligns perfectly with the broader strategy of the central government, which has invested heavily in Jammu and Kashmir's infrastructure, bringing about unprecedented progress and prosperity.

Strengthening India's Solar Capacity

Completion of the 3.2 GW solar module plant in Kathua will set the stage for achieving a total manufacturing capacity of 6 GW for modules and 2.8 GW for solar components by FY25. This expansion enhances GREW's existing 2.8 GW module manufacturing facility in Jaipur, Rajasthan, solidifying its position as a key player in India's solar industry. It integrates production capabilities, reinforcing GREW's role as a leading solar module manufacturer and advancing the nation's renewable energy objectives.

Dedication to Sustainable Innovation

This is a pivotal step towards sustainable growth and modernization. GREW’s commitment to backward integration ensures that every stage of solar module production, from ingots to final modules, meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency. This integrated approach adheres to international standards, positioning GREW as a pioneer in India's solar technology industry.

Impact on the Solar Community

The inauguration of the 3.2 GW solar module plant in Kathua has far-reaching implications for the solar community in India. By providing high-quality, efficient solar PV modules, GREW is empowering other solar asset management companies in India to achieve better performance and reliability. This effort bolsters the nation's quest for energy independence and aligns with the global transition to renewable resources.

Looking Ahead

As GREW continues to expand its footprint in the solar industry, its commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability remains unwavering. The Kathua module manufacturing facility marks a significant milestone for GREW, boosting both production capabilities and socio-economic development in the region.

By FY25, GREW is set to play a pivotal role in advancing India's sustainable and energy-independent future. As GREW continues to lead innovation in the solar industry, we invite you to join us on our journey towards a more sustainable future for India and the world.
